Hampton Lucy Village Enhancement Group

Hampton Lucy Village Enhancement Group (V.E.G) is comprised of a group of volunteers working, as the name implies, to enhance our village environment.  A number of projects are undertaken, the most visible of these being bulb planting (resulting in a glorious show of colour in spring).  Planting up of beds and troughs at strategic points around the village carries on throughout the year.  Hedges and trees we have planted have successfully merged with the natural environment.  Less obvious tasks regularly undertaken are litter picking, weeding and cleaning of signs and bridge railings.  Our most ambitious project has been the establishment of the ‘Charles Maries Trail’ around the village, with explanatory map and guide (see ‘Charles Maries’ page).  Charles Maries was an eminent Victorian plant hunter who was born and received his early education in Hampton Lucy.  The group always welcomes support and help in their efforts to enhance the appearance and environment of this lovely Warwickshire village.  Diana Robinson.
